IMPORTANT: By submitting a donation for a ticket and participating in the Phoebus After Dark tour (“the Event”), you (“Participant”) agree to the terms below.

1. Assumption of Risk

Participant understands that the Event involves walking outdoors at night, consuming alcoholic beverages at licensed establishments, and participating in activities on public and private property. Participant assumes all risks associated with participation, including but not limited to: trips and falls, encounters with uneven surfaces, adverse weather, interactions with the public, and the effects of alcohol consumption.

2. Alcohol, Food & Beverage Responsibility

All food and beverage purchases are pay-as-you-go at local businesses and the sole responsibility of the Participant. Tour operator does not provide or serve any alcohol or food. Any consumption of alcohol is strictly between the Participant and the individual licensed establishments visited during the tour. Participants must be 21 or older and are expected to drink responsibly.

3. Code of Conduct

Participant agrees to conduct themselves in a respectful and lawful manner throughout the duration of the Event. Tour operator is not responsible for the actions, behaviors, or consequences of any Participant's conduct, including behavior influenced by alcohol consumption. Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in removal from the Event.

4. Use of Public Property

The Event includes guided walks on public sidewalks and rights-of-way. Participant understands that the tour provider does not own or control these public spaces and cannot guarantee their condition or safety. Participant agrees to follow all local laws, pedestrian guidelines, and instructions provided by tour leaders.

5. Release of Liability

By participating, the Participant agrees to release, waive, and hold harmless the tour provider, its owners, employees, contractors, volunteers, affiliates, and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, or causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury (including death) that may be sustained while participating in or traveling to/from the Event.

6. Media Release

Participant grants permission to tour provider to use any photographs, video, or audio taken during the Event for promotional or marketing purposes, without compensation or further consent.

7. Indemnification

Participant agrees to indemnify and hold harmless tour provider from and against any and all claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to their participation in the Event.

By purchasing a ticket and/or participating in the Event, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this waiver and release in full.

  • Do I have to buy alcohol to attend?

Not at all. Drinks are optional and the stories and atmosphere are for everyone 21+.

  • Is it scary?

Unless you're frightened by the gritty side of history, you should be fine. Fans of true crime will be right at home. There'll be no ghosts, no jump scares, no silly makeup. 

  • What material is covered on this tour?

Late 18th and early 19th century crimes and accidents, including maimings, murders, arson, riots, prostitution, prison breaks, drownings, moonshining, gambling, and the general craziness that was old Phoebus. 

  • Where will we meet/visit?

To preserve the experience, the itinerary will be shared with ticket holders only. At checkout, please make sure you provide your correct email address so you can receive that information prior to the event.

  • Can I dress up?

Yes, costumes are totally welcome!

  • Will we go inside any historic buildings on this tour?

Not unless you count the bars.

  • Can I drink on the tour?

Alcohol consumption is only allowed on the private property of the establishments we are visiting that evening. We do not condone any alcohol consumption from an open container in public. That's an old Phoebus law still on the books.

  • What if it rains?

Phoebus After Dark is a rain or shine event. If it gets ugly outside, we'll just be spending more time inside the bars.

  • When I checkout, I see I'm donating, how does that work?

Your purchase is considered a donation, and your ticket is given as a thank-you for supporting historic preservation projects in Phoebus. 100% of proceeds from this event will go straight into restoring a historic, 109-year-old downtown Phoebus building that’s ready to become a storefront again after many years.

  • Are kids allowed?

This is a 21+ event, please keep them at home with the pets.

  • How far will we walk?

The tour is about half a mile and you'll have 20 minutes at each bar to enjoy a drink, socialize, relax, listen to more stories, or rest if you prefer. 

  • Is the tour ADA accessible?

Yes, our tour will use ADA-accessible public sidewalks and curb features, and our destination bars are ADA-accessible as well. At this time, additional accessibility services such as ASL interpretation and written materials are not provided on the tour.
